1. How to get to Ngwe Saung

The seaside town, Ngwe Saung is accessible by road from the big cities near Pathein and Yangon.
The bus is the preferred means of transport for travelers to Ngwe Saung, especially since the road infrastructure has been considerably improved. From Yangon, it will take you about 5 hours of bus to complete the journey of 260km, and cost a little more than 7.5USD for a ticket. Notice that the buses leave early in the morning!
If you want to rent a car with a driver, you will have to spend the same amount of time. However, it will be much more expensive, 120USD.
If you leave from Pathein, the bus ticket is at 3USD per person. You will also have the option of minivan (2.8USD) or motorcycle taxi (3.8USD).
To move around the city, you can rent a bike, a scooter or find a taxi. It should not cost you more than 1.1USD for a journey from one point to another in the city.
To start your stay in Ngwe Saung, you will need to choose your accommodation. It will better for you to keep in your mind two things. The first is that many hotels close during the rainy season. The second is the significant increase of prices during the high season. You can find a hotel that meets your demand and budget among these options: 13USD for the cheapest room, 50USD for a room in a mid-range hotel, and more than 150 USD on average in the north of the city.
In term of food and drink, prices are quite affordable in Ngwe Saung. Traditional Burmese or more exotic restaurants (or even “western” meals) are available.

2. What to do and visit during your trip to Ngwe Saung?

During your stay in Burma, you may feel the need to distance yourself from the mass of tourists, religious monuments and crowded cities. Ngwe Saung is the perfect place for such purpose.
Thus, you can enjoy a paradisiacal environment, alliance of sun, clear water and white sand in Ngwe Saung. The beaches spread over several kilometers to the north of the city. After your swim, you can stop in one of the beachside restaurants to have a delicious meal prepared with fresh seafood.
